FLA wins ALA advocacy award

The American Library Association announced this week that FLA has been selected as the first recipient of ALA's new Presidential Award for Advocacy. The award is sponsored by the Association of Library Trustees, Advocates, Friends and Foundations (ALTAFF).

The award is for FLA's successful efforts in saving State Aid funding for public libraries in 2009. Award details are at

The fight to save State Aid would not have been won without the hard work of the entire library community. Everyone who helped deserves a pat on the back! With the current state budget, library funding will again be an issue in 2010. Please support FLA's advocacy efforts through your gifts to the "Friends of Florida Libraries" Honor Roll. See details at http://www.flalib.org/honor_roll_campaign.php

Together we know we can make a difference!
